Now that you know the different certification paths you can choose from, let’s look at the steps you can take to get a NetSuite certification.

Steps and Process to Becoming NetSuite Certified:

Step 1 - Choose the course that best suits your career goals and skills

As we’ve discussed above, NetSuite offers several different certifications to choose from for various roles - administrators, consultants, developers and users. You can find all these certifications on the website for NetSuite certifications.

We’ve seen all these courses above, of which five are designed for implementers and administrators. These are

  • NetSuite SuiteFoundation

  • NetSuite Administrator

  • NetSuite SuiteCloud Developer

  • NetSuite SuiteCommerce Developer

  • NetSuite ERP Consultant

Besides these five, there are also two certification courses newly available to benefit end-users:

  • SuiteAnalytics User

  • Financial User

Step 2 - Train, study, practice

Thanks to the internet, you have a host of study materials, guides and other resources available to you. Anyone can access these resources while preparing for their certification exams. NetSuite also puts out free resources directly, intending to help you prepare for the certification examination. There are also several study manuals and ‘how-to’ guides, and mock tests to help you prepare.

While these resources are free, make sure you have a strategic plan for preparations and a mentor to guide you. Koenig provides you with proper guidance and expert mentorship as well as hands-on training to give you a well-rounded training experience.

Step 3 - Documentation and recordings

Whenever you need help in any aspect of the exams, whether it’s about maintaining your certification or anything else, you can refer to the FAQ section of the NetSuite certification website. This will give you answers to some of the most frequent questions that other users have. If you need to dive even further, you can do a Google search to find more resources that show other users’ perspectives and views on the certification program. This will help you get and absorb more information that can help you learn better.

Step 4 - Register to test your skills:

This is the deciding point after you have crossed all the other stages. Be confident in everything you have learned so far and register to give the exam. You can take the exam online, managed and invigilated by Kryterion. Alternatively, you can also take the event offline. This will mean going to a predetermined centre to write out the exam. The important thing to remember is that it’s just a test. There is no need to put too much pressure on yourself, as that could be counterproductive.

Once you have given the exam, the results are given immediately. You don’t have to wait around for days, anxious about the results. Except for the SuiteAnalytics and Financial User certifications, you need to clear an annual test of aptitude validation to stay updated on the domain.
