To ensure that participants are well-prepared to absorb the course material and have the best chance of success in both the training and the certification process, the following are the minimum required prerequisites:


  • A secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree, or the global equivalent) with at least 7 years (10,500 hours) of portfolio management experience within the past 15 consecutive years.


    OR


  • A four-year degree (bachelor’s degree or the global equivalent) and at least 4 years (6,000 hours) of portfolio management experience within the past 15 consecutive years.


Additionally,


  • Understanding of the key concepts of portfolio management, including portfolio strategic alignment, governance, performance management, risk management, and communications management.


  • Familiarity with standard project management and business terminology.


  • Experience in managing multiple projects or programs is highly beneficial, although not strictly required.


It is also recommended that:


  • Candidates have some knowledge of or experience with organizational project management maturity.


  • Participants have a basic understanding of PMI standards and guidebooks, such as 'A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)' and 'The Standard for Portfolio Management.'
