Isilon Advanced Administration is a comprehensive training course designed to prepare experienced Isilon administrators to manage the Isilon scale-out storage platform. The course provides comprehensive knowledge on the advanced features of Isilon systems. This includes the Isilon smart pools, HDFS and OneFS snapshot technology, Isilon monitoring and troubleshooting, storage space optimization and various Isilon data protection capabilities.
The course is targeted towards experienced Isilon administrators and system engineers who are looking to gain a deeper understanding and knowledge of Isilon storage systems. It starts with a foundation module that introduces the industry standard storage protocols and discusses the nuances of Isilon storage products. The next module covers the Isilon system architecture, product licensing, and cluster management. The course then moves on to the later modules which cover the more advanced topics such as Isilon data protection, system tuning, Isilon integration and applications, and troubleshooting.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to understand Isilon hardware and system architecture, manage Isilon cluster, utilize Isilon data protection tools, leverage system tuning and optimization techniques, configure Isilon for integrated applications, and troubleshoot common Isilon problems.

Course Prerequisites


The Isilon Advanced Administration Training course is designed to be taken by those with a foundational knowledge of Isilon OneFS. Students should be familiar with the terms, concepts, and terminology associated with the Isilon solution, including using the Isilon Administration Console, protecting data, and understanding erasure coding. Familiarity with basic networking concepts, such as DNS, DHCP, and IP addressing, is also desirable for this course.

It must be assumed that students have a good working knowledge of Linux, networking, and storage concepts

Learning Objectives of Isilon Advanced Administration


Isilon Advanced Administration Training aims to teach participants on how to install, configure and manage Isilon cluster to maximize performance and scalability of their data storage. Participants will learn to create new storage resources using the SmartPools feature and configure network settings. They will also learn to use OneFS features such as SyncIQ, SmartConnect and SmartQuotas to ensure business continuity and protect data. They will also gain knowledge on how to diagnose, detect and troubleshoot problems with their Isilon clusters. At the end of the course, participants will be able to manage, monitor and configure Isilon cluster for efficient and secure data storage.
