There is only one exam that is required for the CCNA Security certification i.e. Cisco 640-553 IINS. Preparation for this exam will involve training on network security principles, perimeter security, Cisco IOS firewalls, Cisco IOS intrusion protection systems (IPS), LAN/SAN/voice/endpoint security, and site-to-site VPNs.

Will CCNA Security open opportunities for higher-level certifications?

The CCNA Security certification is an important prerequisite for the Cisco CCSP professional-level certification. The CCSP certification will be an excellent launching pad for you to aim for the highest Cisco security designation i.e. the Cisco CCIE Security certification. Having said that, there are no prerequisites for attempting CCIE Security certification.
