Webinar Summary:
This webinar provides a hands-on guide to adding and managing Financial Dimensions on custom and extended forms in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365FO). Participants will learn how financial dimensions are stored and processed within the application and how to seamlessly integrate dimension controls into forms while following Microsoft-recommended development practices. The session begins with an overview of the financial dimensions framework, including Dimension Attributes, Dimension Combinations, Default Dimensions, and Ledger Dimensions. Participants will then explore how to add financial dimension controls to forms using standard framework classes, bind them to data sources, handle dimension value selection, and persist dimension data correctly. The webinar also demonstrates how to extend standard forms without overlayering by using form extensions and Chain of Command (CoC). Through practical demonstrations and real-world ERP scenarios, attendees will build forms that capture department, cost center, business unit, and other financial dimensions for transactions such as journals, purchase orders, sales orders, and custom business processes. The session also covers debugging techniques, common implementation challenges, and best practices for performance and maintainability.
