This performance-based certification is for developers interested in demonstrating advanced proficiency in the Java programming language using Java SE.
This course can only be taken after completing SCJP. It provides the additional knowledge required to complete the assignment which is the core requirement of SCJD certification.
Topics covered in the course are: Thread handling and synchronization, Swing (and AWT to the extent necessary to support Swing), Standard file IO (java.io, not java.nio), Java DataBase Connectivity (JDBC) and SQL, Java IDL API and CORBA.
If you are taking Java Intermediate Level Boot Camp, you need not take this course separately.
In order to achieve SCJD certification, you have to submit an assignment and pass an Essay type exam administered through a Prometric Testing Centre.
Since it takes upto 7 working days to obtain the assignment from Sun Microsystems, it is advisable to request for it before arrival in India (which you can do after you have passed the SCJP exam).
Koenig will only provide guidance to the student for building the assignment. Students have to create the assignment themselves.
