November 1st 2005 my first working day for my new company, I started with by travelling to Shimla , India to attend the MCAD Bootcamp.
 Once I arrived in New Delhi I was met by two Koenig employees who brought me to a hotel were I could catch a few hours of sleep before continuing my voyage to Shimla. The next morning at about 5 am I was picked up at the hotel by another koenig employee who brought me to the train station and made sure that I was on the right train and in the right seat.
12 hours and a enjoyable train trip later I arrived in Shimla, and once again someone from Koenig was waiting for me and escorted me to my Hotel. That same night I was introduced to some of the fellow students.
The next morning at 7 am the alarm clock went off and I prepared myself for my first day of class. Once I arrived at the center I was introduced to my instructor and from that moment on, the 1-on-1™ training began.
My instructor was very knowledgeable and had a a few years of working experience, which made the training not a classic read the text-book, do the labs and ask some questions training. The training was a combination of real-life examples combined with the text-book material and the labs combined with his working experience. This approach soon proved to be 'the secret to success' as I passed all of my exams with test scores of 931 (70-229), 968 (70-320) and 960 (70-316).
 Although the training was far beyond excellent a lot of 'after school-hours' of studying was required to master all the material covered, on average I spent between 3 and 5 hours at night studying.
Summing up my 4 weeks in India can be easily done with a few words, namely: Adventurous, challenge, experience, hard work and worthwhile.
One thing I know for sure and that is that I will go back to India, not as student but as tourist so that I can even more experience this beautiful country with its rich and diverse culture.
All in all I had a great time in India and it most definitely helped my career, so if you have this chance, don't hesitate, just do it and live the experience! |
