 I have been asked by Koenig to be a featured student and having come home and had a chance to reflect yes I hope I can give you some idea of what to expect and some chance to prepare.
I flew into Delhi on the 19th January with some trepidation although well travelled nothing prepares you for the Delhi experience. You come out of arrivals and are greeted by lots of people holding up names and sure enough your Koenig driver is there waiting for you. The worries begin to disappear. From Delhi I had a 7 hour train journey to Dehradun. On this journey I really began to relax as I was lucky enough to sit next to a guy from the Indian Military who spoke very good English. Again on arrival the Koenig driver duly picked me up, a true gent.
I stayed at the Country House accommodation which I can thoroughly recommend even over the 5 Star Hotel for its peace and tranquillity, it is an ideal place to study. Whilst the food at the Farmhouse is a bit repetitive it is adequate and safe. Whilst on the subject of food just be careful don’t drink the water or milk (not pasteurized) stick to bottled water. If eating out only stick to larger established restaurants. You will at least once have an upset stomach make sure you take electrolyte powders and Imodium pills with you and if you get really bad get the doctor who will clear it up in no time.
Be prepared to work very hard and long hours, its not called a boot camp for nothing and you will have to put in a lot of effort in order to understand your subject and pass your exams, be under no illusions no one is going to do this for you but you. A very patient trainer is going to do his best to help you understand. Ask as many questions as you can no matter how stupid you might think they are. Just to scare you I worked out that I put in roughly 900 hours of study whilst there and if I had attempted this at home it would have taken years IF I ever had completed this.
I was there for just over 10 weeks and it was a truly remarkable experience not just the passing of the exams which I did and more then I went for but also meeting different people from different cultures and countries. Would I recommend it ? Most certainly. Would I go back for further training ? Definitely. Overall though not just the people at Koenig but also the people of Dehradun were fantastic from my concierge at the Farmhouse Sanjay everyone at the centre to the people in the streets of Dehradun everybody was so polite and pleased to help and talk to you. FANTASTIC!! |
