Olu Olaleye (United Kingdom), MCTS: .NET Framework 2.0 Web & Win Applications. 27 Jul to 28 Aug 2009

I have been working as an IT consultant in the UK for the last 8 years. Current background Perl/Doc1 print documentation software.  I fancied a change in career and thought the .NET route was certainly for me. So I did a lot of research on the internet and was also recommended by a friend to take the course at Koenig.

I arrived in Mumbai on time but unfortunately did not leave enough time to get my connecting flight which was 2hrs from my arrival in Mumbai.  So be warned if you are not flying directly to your test centre location, to be on the safe side leave at least 3hrs for your connecting flight. The booking staff at Jet Airways were very accommodating as I was able to contact Goa Centre Manager, who arranged for the driver to pick me up at a later time at GOA Airport.

On arrival to Koenig solutions on Monday morning, I met the Centre Manager, she was very helpful in explaining the rules and regulations, any reservations that I might have and asked what my expectations were. Coming from Perl/Doc1 programming background I explained exactly what I was looking to achieve from my 5 week course. After the usual formalities of signing a few documents I was introduced to my trainer.

One thing I can truly say about my trainer is that he is very knowledgeable in his field. I had done my own preparation by writing C# programs for 3 months prior to coming on the course. Everybody that I had spoken to in the UK said that .NET is a vast and demanding course, with this in mind I knuckled down and did plenty of practicals as well as revision for my exams.

My only suggestion is that if you are taking a course length greater than 21 days it is better to add a few more days to your length of stay in India so that you can take a few days break in the middle of your course because you are going to need it to get over the final hurdle. I would definitely come back to India to take further courses in the future as I have gained a lot of practical experience through my trainer whose personal dedication made my course definitely worthwhile.

One final point is that I was amazed at the number of different nationalities and the different courses they were been taken at Koenig. You are definitely going to meet new friends. Fortunately for me I arrived at a break in the monsoon season so enjoyed nearly 4 weeks of great weather.

I did get to do a little bit of sightseeing and visited a few beaches. Goa has a vibrant night life (Baga Beach is a must for all you party animals).
