In early June 2012 I was made redundant from my job as a voice recording support and services engineer. I had held this position for 12 years and my skill set had become very "niche".
After 3 weeks of job hunting, applying for multiple positions and having not even received 1 reply from employers, I decided that I need to update my skills set to give me something extra in the challenging UK IT job market.
Self study was one option, but having children and many distractions at home this would have been slow, and I couldn't afford the time required, so I began to look for boot camp courses.
I came across to Koenig, and I was impressed by the course content, flexibility, pricing, experience of India and the isolation from home distractions.
I booked the MCITP: Server Administrator 2008 and CCNA (2-takes)™ course only a few days before flying out to India. Koenig had managed to "squeeze" me in at short notice.
I am now about to leave, and have only positive feedback about my stay in Koenig Solutions, Dehradun.
Everything is set up to allow give the student the best possible environment to learn. Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly and professional staff and I have enjoyed almost every moment of my stay here. The only exception was falling ill, but even then, Priya, the Centre Manager was quick to arrange a taxi to the doctor's, where I received the medication I needed and was back on my feet in a couple of days.
The training I have received has been beyond my expectation. Although booking group courses for both syllabuses, I have been the only student in each class, meaning training could be tailored around my particular needs. The trainer's have been happy to work late in the evenings, Saturday's and even Sundays to meet my needs.
Due to my falling ill, I have chosen to take my CCNA exam in the UK, and Koenig have been happy to refund me the cost of the Cisco exams in India.
Although I have had very little time for anything other than study, once a week transport is provided into town, and a chance to capture some of the Indian culture and way of life, explore the historic market and eat out.
I have no doubt the experience and training I have received in Dehradun will give me the edge I need when I return to the job market in the UK.
One thing I would have changed with hindsight is to book a little more time than the duration of your course, to allow self study, exam preparation or just a little respite, as the training is intense and the deadlines tight. If I had booked a few extra days, I believe I would have passed all my exams here in India.
Overall, I'm very happy with the training and experiences provided here, and definitely plan to come back again in the future.
