The Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Security v1.0 - UCSEC course is designed to help IT professionals understand and implement security within the scope of a Unified Communications (UC) environment.
This course covers key areas of security and helps learners understand the security threats to their networks and how they can properly protect their networks. This includes discussing cloud-based architectures, the challenges of protecting endpoints and sessions, and network segmentation and firewalls. The course also covers securing VoIP services and implementing secure access, mobility, and BYOD strategies.
At the end of the course, learners will understand the challenges of deploying and maintaining a secure UC environment, and will be able to identify and classify security threats, analyze risk, and implement secure communication services. This training prepares learners for exam 640-553, which covers topics on implementing Cisco Unified Communications security. Learners will also gain skills that are transferable to other Cisco certifications such as CCNA Security or CCNP Security.

The Cisco Unified Communications Security (UCSEC) training is an intermediate-level course that assumes a working knowledge of networking and security technology and of the Cisco Unified Communications system components. PC literacy, TCP/IP familiarity and a general familiarity with network fundamentals such as routers, switches and firewalls are recommended.
In addition, it is recommended that the student have completed at least one of the following courses or have equivalent experience:
• Supporting Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
• Administering Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
• Troubleshooting Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
• Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Part 1 (CIPT1)
