The knowledge and skills students should have before attending this course are as follows:

  • Optical equipment fundamentals including DWDM fundamentals and SONET or SDH fundamentals/
  • It is recommended that students attend Cisco optical equipment course prior to attend Cisco EPN Manager Operation and Maintenance Training course (Cisco ONS 15454 DWDM or Cisco NCS 2000 training)
  • Basic knowledge of optical transport and protocols
  • Basic knowledge of data network principles
