A friend had started an MCSE course in the UK over months of his spare time, costing thousands and he never finished. He decided to look for boot camps and found Koenig.

I had become restless as a teacher and decided to quit my job and join him on the MCSE, MCDBA and CCNA course in February. He actually backed out and as I had nothing to hang around for I brought the trip forward to January (which was my first experience of Koenig’s willingness to help and their flexibility)

I must say that even though I have travelled a fair bit, India took some getting used to (4am on new years day is probably not the best time to experience Delhi for the first time). After arriving in Shimla, after a few days it felt normal to be walking to the training centre with brilliant views and monkeys littering the streets. The concierge in Shimla, worked extremely hard to make us all comfortable and keep things running smoothly.

Koenig accommodated me when I wanted to change courses to MCSE + security + messaging, the CCNA and Citrix CCA, and I must say I found all of my tutors very knowledgeable and superb at explaining the syllabus and preparing me for the exam. There is definitely two aspects to the time spent here, learning the stuff and getting the certifications, both of my trainers got the balance just right. After the MCSE exams were finished I spent a spare day learning clustering exchange and virtual server which was a highlight of the course for me. As a matter of fact of all the friends I made here, every single one was extremely satisfied with their experience also.

Here are some (probably obvious) points to consider before you come.

  • Look through the full course list, consider how to get the most from your trip.

  • Book flights with a company that will let you change dates without too big a penalty (as you may decide you want more time here).

  • You absolutely must be prepared to work hard in your hotel room as well as the training centre.

  • Get one on one training if you can afford it, then you have more control of the pace and can look at advanced topics if you finish early.

  • If you are here for very long time considering moving between Delhi, Shimla and Goa (and the new place – DehraDun) as it will spice up your trip a bit.

  • If you would not consider India as travel destination, think hard before you come. Koenig work very hard to insulate you from the hassle but you still may get stressed. That said, if you are fairly robust you will find there are many many worse places to spend time (I loved it in the end)

I will go home soon with lots of knowledge, lots of certifications, lots of friends and contacts and lots of good memories and I expect to return to do some Linux qualifications and maybe some more Cisco stuff next year.

I would recommend Koenig to anyone prepared for it.
