I decided to do the MCPD (Microsoft Certified Professional Developer) Web Developer 4 course at Koenig Solutions, Delhi to upgrade my skills in preparation for a new job in 2013 as the Sanofi Site at Dagenham, Essex UK where I am currently working is going to close. This is a three week course which is actually divided into 6 Microsoft Courses and to pass the MCPD course, there are 4 exams.
I decided to do the course in Delhi on recommendation from my Father’s partner who is from India. After getting the Visa sorted a couple of months before I was set to go.
On arriving in India, I was greeted by a Koenig representative near Costa Coffee café exactly as Gaurav Narula’s e-mail had described. The first person I met at the airport was Abbas Hamza who was going to do exactly the same course as me as well as an extra course in Struts 2 for his 4th week. We were taken to the Koenig Inn Deluxe and moved into rooms next to each other.
The Koenig Inn Deluxe has very spacious rooms and en-suite shower and toilet. The food is very good and the service is excellent. There is a Koenig taxi to take you to the class everyday and drop you back to the hotel.
The Microsoft courses were taught by an excellent trainer who is extremely knowledgeable on the subject matter. The first couple of days were very intense due to the acclimatisation to the different time zone and the amount of information that was coming my way. After that we soon settled into the boot camp routine.
Abbas and I passed our first exam in Web Applications Development with Microsoft .NET Framework 4 and on the second Saturday of the course, which gave us a Microsoft TS qualification leaving a week for to me to prepare for the remaining 3 exams. I then decided to focus on the course rather than on the exams for the remainder of my time left. Abbas went alone with the exams. He passed his second exam in WCF (Windows Communication Foundation) and will take the other two spread out over the remaining time he is in India. Good luck to Abbas for those exams.
On the first Sunday, we did some sightseeing around Delhi organised by Koenig Solutions which was a full day tour to India Gate, Humayun's Tomb, Qutub Minar, Lotus temple (from the outside). We met some people from the other Koenig dwellings and it was a very enjoyable day.
I would like to thank my trainer, Hema Sharma (Centre Manager), Gaurav Narula, and everyone at Koenig that I met and all of the Koenig Inn Deluxe staff for a very enjoyable time in India. I had my birthday whilst there and I was given a chocolate cake and some flowers which was a lovely surprise.
