Having spent a few years working primarily in deskside support and network admin I was keen to get myself a Microsoft Certification in orders learn new skills as well as reinforce what I already knew from my working life. The main sticking point was the high cost of training courses in the UK makes it prohibitive for individuals wishing to take this route without company sponsorship.
A colleague pointed me in the direction of the Koening website and I decided to enquire about the MCITP – Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Administrator bootcamp. My enquiry was dealt with promptly and couple of emails later I was booked on my course at the training centre in Dehradun.
When I arrived in Delhi the Koenig driver was waiting for me at the airport despite the fact my flight was 10 hours late and I had eventually arrived at 2am. The next day, the same driver made sure that myself and a few others were safely on the train to Dehradun. Likewise we were met as soon as we disembarked at the other end and taken to our accommodation.
I chose the Country House for my stay and would recommend it to anyone studying in Dehradun. It's quiet but just an easy tuk-tuk ride from the centre of town and is run superbly by Sanjay, who will make sure you have everything you need during your stay.
The course itself was similarly excellent and my tutor was first class. Though ostensibly taught using the official Microsoft curriculum, I found the knowledge of my tutor was far more useful than the content of the coursebooks that sometimes missed out information which, I felt, was important. At all times the course was taught at a pace that suited me with more time being taken over subjects that I found the trickiest and any question I had was answered comprehensively. In fact, I was so happy with my MCITP course that I decided to stay in Dehradun for an extra week to study for a CCNA qualification. Once again the standard of tuition was very high and even though there was a lot of information to take in, I found I was completely prepared for my exam.
As well as training and accommodation, the Koenig staff were always available to help with any other enquiry I had while I was in Dehradun and they also helped me organise a weeks sightseeing after I had completed my studies.
All in all, I had a fantastic time in India and came home with two valuable qualifications to boot. If, in future, I want to undertake any other training, Koenig will be the first place I look.
