My experience in Goa… Where to begin? I signed up for a multiple certification package that included A+, N+ and MCSE 2003, over 64 days, from 02/02/2009 – 06/04/2009. Upon arriving in Goa, I was collected promptly from the airport with minimum fuss and taken to Hotel Delmon. I spent the first few days here and then moved to a serviced apartment. My classes started the morning after I arrived, so I had very little time to recover from jet lag and to get used to my new surroundings.
I would definitely recommend Koenig as an option to get your qualifications. Firstly, the level of training I received really was top notch. There were no problems with language as my teacher, was exceptionally good at speaking English, and his level of knowledge was very impressive. Any time I asked a question it was answered promptly and he made sure I understood thoroughly before continuing. His style of teaching was extremely effective and kept me involved. He also showed genuine care for my progress and well being, wanting to make sure I had the knowledge to back up my certifications. The other staffs was fantastic as well, and they all work very hard in ensuring that you are comfortable in your surroundings.
Secondly, I got on great with the other students. We would hit the beach every Saturday night, partying till early hours, and I made some real friends here that I really hope to keep in touch with in the future. This is one of the main reasons why my trip was so enjoyable.
Thirdly, travelling and spending a couple of months in India were an experience I will never forget. The place is beautiful, hot and sunny (there was not a drop of rain during my whole stay) and the people are friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend renting a moped from Koenig and exploring some of the beaches, particularly in the north.
Bear in mind that you need to be focused on the task if you are to come here. The exams are tricky and you do need to put in extra study in evenings and at weekends. I put in about 3-4 hours a night in the first few weeks, but this declined as the end drew near. As I was studying for such a long time on a gruelling schedule, I did feel the strain but my spirits were kept alive by the other students and my teacher.
I did experience some problems with the food here. You need to be careful in choosing a place to eat. Koenig took good care of me. Doctors recommended some medicine that was extremely effective. The lunch menu here is minimal and you may need to supplement the money provided for your food. However, if you buy food from the market, it is amazingly cheap. The fruit and veg in particular is good quality and you can buy 2.5 Kg of assorted veg for about 35 Rupees!
All in all, I have no regrets about coming here. It has been an experience I will never forget and I have achieved my goal. If you are going to make the trip, I would recommend staying in the Serviced Apartments – They are kept very clean, and you can cook your own meals if you wish. You also get to stay with other students rather than being on your own. This really is an amazing place and I am already considering coming back next year and obtaining more qualifications, possibly CCNA and my upgrades to MCITP.
